Further adentures in Dumbfckistan
So okay, President Biden did the traditional speech thing. I watch these, usually sporadically, in between the little naplets that oldsters like myself allow ourselves. We deserve it, after all those years working and very often feeling like a little nap, but realizing many of our coworkers would uncharitably, not understand. So Joe surprised me, bless him, by getting his mojo working [mine quit years ago] and he was sharp as the proverbial tack, in command and speaking with clarity and vigah, as JFK used to say. He owned the room.
He talked actual policies and goals and solutions to problems, and to hear a politician speak in an informed way about things that really exist, rather than about the scary conspiracy demons running loose through the fever swamps of their skulls, was a wondrous thing.
Republicans in attendance, with their usual decorum, responded like snarling beasts, tortured zoo animals, toddlers denied a cookie. The din was ghastly, with all the “outbursts, jeers, and peals of mocking laughter,” Writes John Harris: “With boos, taunts, groans, and sarcastic chortles, the opposition party effectively turned themselves into props for President Joseph Biden.” Marjorie Taylor Greene, draped in her signature Cruella fur, kept leaping up and braying “liar”.
Rising propaganda star [and daughter of psychopathic preacher Mike Huckabee] Sarah Sandera was annointed to perform the “rebuttal.” The forrmer spokesmouth for famous insane groper/grifter Donald Trump — was to be the serious official voice of her Party.
In a stunning display of psychological projection, she blithered “the dividing line in America is no longer between right and left,” she said. “It’s between normal and crazy.” Now I would have to agree with her there, wouldn’t you? Alhough maybe not in a way she would like. But in same bizarre twist of fate — the same kind of unfathomable cosmic error that gave us Trump, she is governor of an actual, if benighted — state, Arkansas.
She went on to accuse Biden of having surrendered his presidency “to a woke mob that can’t even tell you what a woman is.” “Every day we are told we must partake in their rituals, salute their flags, and worship their false idols. All while Big Government colludes with Big Tech to strip away the most American thing there is: your freedom of speech. That’s not normal. It’s crazy, and it’s wrong.”
Sometimes I wake up and wonder what country I’m in, or maybe what universe. Do YOU have ANY freaking idea what she is even talking about? My flag and presumably yours is the American flag. Last time I looked, this is the one all Americans saluted but now maybe republicans [those crazy kids] salute something else, because they're the ones with the confederate flags, the swastikas, the assault rifle lapel pins. What DO they pledge allgiance to, since they hate America so much and want to dismantle the federal government which is, after all, what makes the United States — the UNITED states.
As far as our rituals, is she talking about some type of religious observance? Also the ‘false idols? Sounds like the way non-catholic protestants used to talk about Catholics but I don’t think that’s considered cool in rightwing cabals anymore.
She is also accusing “government”— which she is part of — and Twitter, a private company which presumably is allowed to make its own rules about customer behavior on its premises — with taking her free speech away, even after several quotes from her speech were posted last night. On Twitter.
And “woke” — don’t you find the constant repetition of a meaningless sound really irritating? I know that’s how you train parrots, dogs and seals, but it’s tedious. It’s like some magic incantation to them — one of those dog whistles that makes MAGAts drool like Pavlov’s bells did to actual dogs. Maybe if you watch Fox or Newsmax or OAN, you get a decoder ring that translates all that neurostatic into human speech. Or maybe a nice doggie treat.
Also, about that Twitter thing? Breaking news: “A company whistleblower brought forward new testimony alleging that conservatives influenced the social network. The company changed its policies to accommodate former president Donald Trump’s rule-breaking tweet, and the Trump White House asked Twitter to remove an ‘insulting’ tweet about the president, posted by the television personality Chrissy Teigen.”
This ‘oversight hearing’ crazyfest is just beginning this week and I have a feeling it’s gonna be a real humdinger. Stay tuned.
